The vivid history of Croatia helps to make it a destination ripe for adventure holidays. The following are just a few of many options for adventure holidays in the country.

On one of the many explorer themed adventure holidays in Croatia, the group of ancient landmarks to be seen includes the famous palace of the ancient roman Emperor Diocletian, which is located in Split on the shores of the Adriatic Sea. This same trip gives visitors a taste of the stunning Sea Organ at Zadar, which produces harmonious sounds from underfoot.

Another explorer themed adventure holiday in Croatia walks visitors through the picturesque city of Dubrovnik, which is located on the Adriatic Sea. For those interested in trying the local cuisine, Korcula is one of the stops to look forward to during the holiday. The waterside bars of Hvar allow visitors a chance to try local cocktails such as travarica.

There are several UNESCO World Heritage sites in Croatia, all of which are regularly visited on adventure holidays. The naturally forged dams of Plitvice Lakes National Park have long been a point of fascination for adventure travellers throughout Europe. Located in Historic Pore?, the Euphrasian Basilica Episcopal Complex has its origins in the 6th century, and as such is an ideal place to get a glimpse of Byzantine art history. The historic city of Trogir, which was forged by the Venetians, Greeks and Romans, has some of the most well preserved Romanesque Gothic architecture in Europe. Any one of these places may be visited on an adventure holiday.

Lapland is the name given to an area in the most northern part of Europe that is mostly within the Arctic Circle. It stretches across northern Norway, Finland and Sweden and the north west of Russia.

Adventure holidays are popular not only because they usually involve taking part in a range of activities, but also because they allow travellers to see a large proportion of the country they are visiting, and this could not be truer than when taking an adventure holiday to Lapland.

There are a variety of different package tours available to those who wish to venture across the wintery landscape of the region, all offering different sports and activities for different abilities and age groups. There are also holidays that combine active sports with searching for the Northern Lights.

By taking an adventure holiday to Kittila in Finland, travellers can take a reindeer safari across the snowy hills and valleys, or discover the area via cross country skiing. They can also visit some unique, traditional villages on a snowmobile, or learn to direct a team of husky dogs on the back of a sled.

Travellers visiting Sweden’s Lapland can expect an adventure-filled trip, with snowmobiles, sleighs and skiing. There is also the opportunity to sit back and relax, perhaps even catch dinner, with some ice fishing. Travellers will also find fun in the shooting range, in a car on the ice track, on the curling rink and even in the sea by swimming in an immersion suit.

Traveling to Krakow is easy, since there are different modes of transportation to choose from and a range of prices to fit any kind of budget. But if you are already staying in Krakow, you really should consider going on foot when touring the city. The reason for that is because you’ll see the historical sites up close and personal. But if you’re not a walker, then you can rent a bicycle or ride the bus.

There’s a major airport in Krakow called The Balice airport. If you go to Krakow by air, your starting point would of course be the airport. At the airport, you can do everything from hear mass to exchange your cash into the Polish currency called the zloty. Even if you don’t have someone waiting for you at the airport, you can easily go to your destination because there are lots of available modes of transportation at the airport. Many people do not prefer to take the bus when traveling to Poland, more specifically, to Krakow. The reason for that is because a bus is not cheaper than the other modes of transportation, but it is not exactly the most comfortable way of traveling either. Taking the bus into Poland is a feat usually done only by those people coming in from the north or the Baltic countries.

Getting around Krakow with a car is not always an easy task. The Poles have a different way of driving than from what you are used to. If you really want to get around by car, then it is best that you hire or ask someone else to drive for you. If you are staying at Krakow during the holidays or any other kind of event, be more careful; the police are more alert. Many people who have been to Krakow before choose trains over other modes of transportation. Just be warned if it’s your first time riding a train headed to Krakow, the train staff usually speak in their native tongue, so if you talk in English, take time learning a few Polish phrases to help you get by. The amount you will spend on a train ride won’t rob the bank

Whenever a person goes to a different place or country, in order to validate that he/she really went to that place, that person will buy souvenirs or other items that will also serve as memorabilia. The colorful and very interesting wares that Krakow’s marketplaces sell are enough to entice a person – local and tourist alike – to make some interesting purchases.

Galeria Krakowska – This shopping center located beside the city’s main train station has lots of stores – all 270 of them; so this is definitely a shopper’s paradise. This is a very large shopping mall and since it opened in 2006, has attracted lots of people from tourists to locals alike. The great thing about this place is that this is open till 10pm in the evening (9pm on Sundays).

Sukiennice – Otherwise known as Cloth Hall or Drapers’ Hall, this place was once the place to go to when you want to buy wares or just trade with merchants. That time was definitely a long time ago. But that doesn’t mean that Sukiennice has lost its charm. This place is still a good stop over if you want to buy one-of-a-kind souvenirs to take home with you.

Galeria Kazimierz – This shopping mall is the perfect place to go to if you just wants to wander around a shopping mall or watch the latest movies. This shopping mall boasts of a state of the art movie theater and a really good looking façade. Many people come here even during the height of winter because of all the bargains one can get here. There are big (international) retailers here as well as Polish stores.

Old Town District – The Old Town District is famous for its history – as well as for being a good destination for those in the lookout for good bargains and unique buys. Not only will you get to see why UNESCO chose this place as a World Heritage Site when you visit this area, but you’ll also get to buy fantastic items and chill out at one of the café’s if ever your feet scream out in protest.

Krakow Plaza – If you go to Krakow with the kids, then you better check this place out. This modern addition has everything for everybody. There are lots of stores here that caters to children’s needs and if that isn’t enough, there is an IMAX theatre that will surely make any kid jump up and down in delight. If that isn’t enough, there’s also a so-called Fantasy Park – it has all the gaming needs that kids (or kids at heart) might crave.

Krakow is the most visited city in Poland. More than 7 million people come here each year and most of them return because of everything Krakow has to offer. It would be difficult to only stay in Krakow for a few days because you’d be hard pressed to compress everything Krakow has to offer in such a short time.

Main Market Square – This is also known as Krakow Market Square. This place is really worth visiting because it is a really charming landmark in Krakow. In order for you to get to the Main Market Square, you can either ride a taxi or a bike. It depends on where you’re coming from. This place is a really good place to stop by even if there are no events or festivities going on.

Wawel Castle – This castle has been around for the longest time. The Wawel Castle has been considered by many as a model for other castles in the region when it was first built. When you visit here, feel free to bring children – they will surely be charmed by this place. There are lots of activities to do so no one – not the elderly, nor the children – will be bored when they come here.

Czartoryski Museum – This is a very interesting place to visit. If you are a fan of artsy stuff, then you’ll definitely have a good time here. This museum has a good history – it was founded by Princess Izabela during the late 1700’s. This museum is famous for being the home of a famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci – The Lady with an ermine.

Park Wodny – Not exactly the first place that comes to mind when going to Krakow but for those who are always on the lookout for adrenaline and adventure, this is the place to go to. This Aqua Park is great in a sense that even in winter you can come here because the water is warm. But if you don’t want to splash around, then you can come here for the gym – one of the best in the city.

Ethnographic Museum – Poland is synonymous to ‘rich culture’. So when you come to Krakow, might as well visit all the museums and galleries you want. The Ethnographic Museum is not a very famous museum but it should be. This is a hidden diamond amidst a sea of pearls. If you don’t have time to visit the rural areas, come here in order to see the different side of Poland.

Before, many people thought that Poland does not offer a variety of food choices so when coming to Poland, particularly in Krakow, they expect to go hungry. But imagine their surprise when they landed on Polish soil and saw the wide variety of food to choose from.

First, there’s the traditional Polish food that includes really tender meat and lots of vegetables – perfect on a cold winter day. Then there are the numerous other foods available in Krakow – there are many Japanese, Italian, Greek, American and even Indian restaurants in town. Whatever your nationality or taste in food may be, you won’t go hungry – or disappointed – in Krakow.

Polakowski – A traditional Polish restaurant that offers, what else, but traditional food? Many locals come to eat at this place and would recommend this eatery if you want to try out their traditional (and delicious) food. The atmosphere here is very electric and you’ll definitely warm up to this charming restaurant found in Kazimierz. The food portions are definitely ample and the wine offered here will suit anyone’s taste.

Momo Krakow – A favorite among the vegetarian residents of Krakow, Momo offers a wide variety of food, plus, the atmosphere is really nice. But the best thing about this place is that this is a good alternative for those who want something different. Add to that the fact that all the ingredients used to prepare the food are organic. This is a truly delightful place for those who are on the lookout for something out of the ordinary

Restaurant Wierzynek – This is a very famous restaurant in Krakow. This is a known landmark in Krakow since this restaurant has been around for a really long time. The food offered by this restaurant is traditional – and very delicious – Polish style food. The service and staff here are excellent. When you come to this restaurant to dine, you will really get the value for your money.

Cul-De-Sac Restaurant – Cul-De-Sac isn’t exactly famous or a favorite among the locals. And the reason for that is not because the food or service is dull or uninspiring, but because this restaurant is a hidden gem. And the truth is that, the food here is actually delicious. If a quiet dinner or lunch is what you have in mind, then the Cul-De-Sac is a truly great place to go to.

Metropolitan – Sometimes, good food is not enough. In order for a restaurant to be memorable, the overall experience you had there should exceed your expectations. That is what the Metropolitan is all about – exceeding expectations. Not only does the Metropolitan offer good food, wine and ambience, it also offers a different twist: they cater to the needs of kids. Now how’s that for a really good dining experience?

When it comes to weather, it can be said that Krakow definitely has the best (or worst, depending on how you view it) of both worlds. The summer season brings in hot or mild and temperate weather, while the winter season brings in really cold temperatures.

So in short, the city of Krakow experiences the four seasons common to countries above the equator. ?If you are a summer loving kind of person, then it would definitely be a good idea to go there during the summer time.

The temperature on a normal summer day in Krakow is around 30 to 35 degrees Celsius. Expect full on humidity and bring your trusted hat with you. Don’t worry though if the heat and humidity is messing with your hair, there are lots of department stores or malls just around the corner. These stores carry all your needs – from food to clothes, so no need to worry.

But if your schedule only permits you to go to Krakow during the winter months, then expect snow – lots of it. Don’t forget to bring your winter essentials like your favorite cashmere sweater or your gloves. You will thank yourself for bringing these essentials because a normal winter day at Krakow could be as low as -5 degrees Celsius.

Now that is what you call a really bitingly cold winter. If you came to Krakow, for example, at July; if you are a fan of the sun, you’ve hit the jackpot. ?The month of July is the hottest time of the year. But if you want to see the city at its best, go there during the spring (mid April through May) and be delighted to discover that the city has been enveloped in the smell of sweet flowers. The weather is truly as diverse as the culture and people of Krakow.

Usually, a hotel will be the first thing that comes to mind when you are thinking of going somewhere else. Sometimes, some people don’t go back to a certain place because of bad experiences at a hotel, or maybe, the service wasn’t to die for. Here in Krakow, you’ll only get the best treatment and you will have a wide variety of choices when you want to book a hotel. Whether your budget allows you to splurge or you want to scrimp and save so you can shop till you literally drop, Krakow has hotels that will suit not only your personality, but cater to your needs as well.

Hotel Copernicus – Many tourists who want only the best of the best would love to stay at this five star hotel. This hotel is rated by many as THE best hotel to stay at while visiting Krakow. It is located at Kanonicza Street, right next to the beautiful Wawel Castle. The décor of this hotel really makes you feel as if you’re staying at a Polish Castle.

Hotel Ester – Hotel Ester caters to people who are not looking for something that screams five star hotel but still wants to have a really good experience. It is located in a really beautiful part Kazimierz and the staff is really courteous and would go out of their way just to help you get what you need (and want). This is a really delightful place to stay at while in Krakow.

Hotel Alef – This hotel is considered to be a good priced hotel falling in the middle range when it comes to the price. This hotel is a really simple hotel for starters. But what it lacks in “wow factor”, it makes up for with its uniqueness. There are lots of antiques, paintings and other eccentric touches that will make your stay here feel truly magical and delightful.?Regency Apartment – An apartment that really makes you feel at home, this is the perfect place to stay in if you are traveling in a group or with your family. There are lots of rooms and this is only a short walk away from Krakow’s famous sites like the Main Market Square at Old Town. Located in Kazimierz, this is a really good place to stay in.

Hotel Rubinstein – This hotel has all the comforts of a stylish home and more. The staff is really warm and welcoming, plus the amenities are really superb. There’s an outdoor café here and the rooms are (and the scenery) really elegant. This is located in the Jewish quarter at Kazimierz. This is definitely a good hotel to stay at if you’re looking for a hotel that would cater to all your needs.
